153th Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday at the Indian Embassy

Selection_007Indian music spilled out from the Indian embassy onto Vorontsova streets in June, where a celebration was held to mark the 153rd anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday. Rabindranath, who was educated at University College, London and the university of Calcutta, was a Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music in the early 19th and 20th centuries and is still held in high esteem in India. The Indian community put on a whole repertoire of songs, plays and recitals, watched closely by Indian Ambassador Mr. P.S. Raghavan, and a fairly large gathering of Indians living and working in Moscow, many of whom observed proudly as their own children performed on stage.
